It's a good day. I've been wanting to learn how to do this (make contour maps from LiDAR data) and now I can, your boy's levelled up! 



I will add, I think there are other methods to do this in Autocad and Sketchup, but those are through proprietary avenues and plugins. Learning it in QGIS means I can get the data to you regardless of your CAD choice. In the words of team america, freedom isn't free.
